Today's Topic — Fire Prevention
Most job site fires are preventable.
The top causes are hot work, electrical faults, and improper flammable storage.
Hot Work
Always get a hot work permit before welding, cutting, or grinding near combustibles.
Clear the area.
Fire watch for 30 minutes AFTER work ends.
PASS Method
Pull the pin.
Aim at the base of the fire.
Squeeze the handle.
Sweep side to side.
Only fight a fire if it's small and you have an exit behind you.
Know Your Extinguisher
Class A (ordinary), B (flammable liquids), C (electrical), K (cooking).
Using the wrong class can make things worse.
When in doubt, get out and call 911.
