OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC
š EspaƱolCrane accidents cause approximately 90 deaths each year. Rigging failures can lead to dropped loads and serious crush injuries.
Only qualified riggers attach loads. Only qualified operators run cranes. A competent person supervises the operations.
Inspect slings, shackles, hooks with safety latches, and wire rope. Remove damaged equipment immediately.
Always know the load weight. Never exceed the rated capacity. Account for sling angles reducing capacity.
Standard OSHA/ASME hand signals must be used. A designated signal person communicates with the operator. Operator must stop if signal is unclear.
Conduct a pre-lift meeting for critical lifts. Consider swing radius, overhead obstructions, ground conditions, and power lines.
Use taglines to control load rotation. Barricade the lift zone. No one should ever stand under a load.
